This is Catherine, 'Kate' Morrison.
She was married to John Morrison of 10 Coll. The couple had eight children under the age of 18 when John drowned aged 44. He was a gunner on SS Norwood, sunk by a torpedo off Aberdeen. John survived but lost his life less than two years later on his way home.
Kate also lost two brothers in the war. She died in 1926 aged 48.
I was keen to portray Kate, to reflect the devastating effects of the disaster on the men's loved ones. There are two contrasting photographs of her taken a short time apart which show the physical effect on her after that night. Kate died prematurely, leaving her eight children as orphans.
