Robert MacKinnon was from Harris. He was a fisherman and was with the RNR before being engaged in the Royal Navy for hostilities in 1917. On the night of the disaster he helped John F Macleod to secure the rope on the rocks at Holm. He was demobilised on compassionate grounds shortly after the war.
