Donald Murray (Domhnall Mhurchaidh an Gobha) was from 46 South Bragar. He survived the disaster, having seen service as far afield as Iceland and the Mediterranean Sea. He moved to Glasgow in 1920, working as a policeman and insurance salesman. Donald married Christina Murray Maclean, who he outlived. He was present in 1971 when the Iolaire's bell and nameplate were handed to Stornoway Town Council for safe keeping. Donald died in 1981 aged 82. (Information from 'the Darkest Dawn')
